Bandrekonstruktionen am Kniegelenk basieren auch heute noch auf empirisch gewonnenen klinischen Erkenntnissen. Erstmalig wird hier mit einer ausgefeilten experimentellen Untersuchungseinrichtung Grundlagenwissen zur Funktion des Kniebandapparats, zu seinen Verletzungen und seiner Wiederherstellung erarbeitet. Insbesondere wurde das Dehnungsverhalten der menschlichen Knieb{nder unter den verschiedensten simulierten Bedingungen ermittelt, unter {u eren Stre belastungen sowie unter dem Einflu der knie}bergreifenden Muskulatur. Au erdem werden die Auswirkungen verschiedener Kreuzbandinsertionslokalisationen und Augmentationstechniken untersucht. Nach einer ]bersicht }ber die klnische Entwicklung der Bandchirurgie und der iomechanischen Grundlagen wird die experimentelle Methodik ausf}hrlich dargestellt. Die Ergebnisse sindklar gegliedert und ausschlie lich graphisch dargestellt. Neue Ergebnisse lassen sich insbesondere aus der Muskelsimulationsuntersuchung gewinnen: Hier wird beispielsweise der antagonistische Einflu des M. quadriceps auf das vordere Kreuzband und die nur teilweise kompensatorische Wirkung der ischiokruralen Muskeln deutlich. Die gewonnenen Ergebnisse werden vergleichend mit der modernen Literatur umfassend diskutiert.
