The new edition of this marketleading text builds upon the blend of expert systems theory and application established in earlier editions. The first half of the book concentrates on the theoretical base of expert systems, and offers a broad overview of Artificial Intelligence and its relation to expert systems. The second half of the text focuses on application, with the introduction of the CLIPS expert systems tool, and its new objectoriented language, COOL. All chapters end with an extensive problem set designed to reinforce knowledge.

I was a bit disappointed with this book. It arrived in good condition, but the content felt outdated in some areas compared to recent advancements in AI. I hope the next edition catches up with current trends in programming. Overall, just okay for my needs.

Solid Resource for Learning AI Concepts
I picked up the fourth edition of Expert Systems: Principles and Programming for my AI class, and it's been super helpful. The explanations are clear, and the examples help solidify the concepts. I especially liked the updated case studies—they're relevant and insightful!

Good Book, But a Bit Dense
This edition has a lot of great information, but I found some sections a little overwhelming. The depth of programming detail is impressive, though it might not be for everyone. If you're new to expert systems, brace yourself for some heavy lifting!
