Product Description In 2002 an American teacher, full of dreams of the Silk Road and visions of adventure, brought his family to Xinjiang, Chinas westernmost outpost. In Xinjiang, they were the only Western family in eight hundred miles, but lived a comparatively normal lifeone full of yurts, yak yoghurt, and camel rides. About the Author Patrick Wallace is an American expatriate who has lived for many years in Asia with his wife and five children. This book covers his family's experience in western China from 20022004, when he and his wife served as English teachers at Shihezi University, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. He is currently an editor and writer living and working in Shanghai, China.
