En este libro se presenta el estudio de la influencia del tipo de contacto slidolquido en la eficiencia de la extraccin por solvente de aceites a partir de semillas oleaginosas, mostrando un trabajo con base terica y experimental de los fenmenos que tienen lugar en dicha operacin. Un equipo experimental de escala de laboratorio ha sido utilizado para realizar pruebas que representan una etapa del equipo multietapas de escala industrial, actualmente utilizado para la extraccin de aceites por solvente. Se analizaron los dos principios bsicos de contacto utilizados en esta operacin: inmersin y percolacin. Se estudi adems el efecto de las intermitencias en el regado utilizando el esquema de percolacin. De los resultados experimentales, corroborados por los resultados tericos obtenidos a partir de los modelos matemticos desarrollados, se observa que el mtodo de inmersin proporciona mejores eficiencias en la extraccin de la principal porcin de materia grasa de la semilla. El mtodo de percolacin con intermitencias proporciona mayor eficiencia de extraccin a mayor nmero de lavados.
