Hierzu fungiert als Referenzpunkt das uns bekannte deutsche Modell. In die Bewertung sind neben den systeminternen Aspekten auch die Interdependenzen des Gesundheitssystems mit anderen Systemen, wie beispielsweise dem Arbeitsmarkt, eingeflossen. Diese vergleichende Analyse ist dreigeteilt: Nach einem einleitenden berblick ber das britischen Systems (Teil A), der sinnvollerweise auch eine hinreichend detaillierte Betrachtung der Historie integriert sowie die Konstruktionselemente von Gesundheitssystemen strukturiert darstellt, wird in Teil B auf Basis dieser Informationen ein Strken SchwchenProfil erstellt. Drittens und abschlieend wird in Teil C ein Vergleich ebenfalls den Informationen des Vergleichs der Konstruktionselemente folgend zum deutschen Gesundheitssystem durchgefhrt. Um zuverlssige und aktuelle Daten zu gewhrleisten, beziehen sich die Informationen zu UK meist direkt auf Quellen des National Health Service (NHS) oder den National Statistics (NS). Analog ist das Zahlenmaterial zum deutschen System mageblich aus Quellen des statistischen Bundesamtes und des Gesundheitsministeriums entnommen. Anderweitige Bezge sind gesondert gekennzeichnet. Die jngsten zuverlssigen Daten sind aus 2001 erhltlich, was den regelmigen Bezug auf eben dieses Jahr erklrt. Im Prinzip ist die medizinische Versorgung im Vereinigten Knigreich (UK), also England, Wales, Schottland und Nordirland, sehr hnlich organisiert. Im Folgenden wird sofern nicht anders vermerkt beispielhaft die Situation in England dargestellt.
