In der vorliegenden Studie wurden die Wertorientierungen von Familien in Kroatien, sterreich und Polen einander gegenbergestellt, mit dem Ziel, Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten herauszuarbeiten und einen Beitrag zu ihrer Erklrung zu liefern. Als wichtige Schwerpunkte wurden vier strukturelle Faktoren bearbeitet: familire Tradition, Religion, Sozial und Familienpolitik und Modernisierung der Gesellschaft bzw. wirtschaftliche Entwicklung. Die Familie wurde anhand von fnf Dimensionen analysiert: Rollenstruktur, Gattenbeziehungen, Eltern Kinderbeziehungen, Arbeitswelt der Familie und Verwandtschaftsstruktur. Die genannten Faktoren und Dimensionen wurden durch Systemtheorie und die Austauschtheorie betrachtet. In der empirischen Untersuchung wurden die Ergebnisse einer Fragebogenerhebung, die in allen drei Lndern durchgefhrt wurde, analysiert. Die Familie befindet sich in allen drei Lndern in einem Transformationsproze, wobei die patriarchalischen Elemente strker in den wirtschaftlich weniger entwickelten Gesellschaften bestehen. Die Familie ist in allen drei Lndern noch ein festes Gefge innerhalb der Gesellschaft.
