Die Portrts bieten Vergleichsmglichkeiten hinsichtlich unterschiedlicher Werkphasen, Techniken v.a. des im Expressionismus so wichtigen Holzschnitts und Knstler. Grundlage der Untersuchung bildet jeweils das einzelne Werk unter besonderer Bercksichtigung der Ausdrucksmglichkeiten der Farbe. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Frage, inwieweit die besondere Behandlung der Farbe in der Lage ist, Aussagen ber den Portrtierten zu machen. Unter diesem Aspekt wird der Begriff der hnlichkeit, die Unterscheidung von Typus und Portrt, die Rolle des Portrtschemas, das Verhltnis von Figur und Grund sowie die Darstellung von Charaktereigenschaften untersucht.
