The purpose of this book is to make topics and critical issues on farmers access to financial services in developing countries understandable by undergraduate and postgraduate students. The book gives clear and comprehensive treatment of theoretical underpinnings of access to financial services and developed conceptual framework for farmers. The book goes further to use survey data collected from maize farmers and formal financial institutions in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana to assess factors which influence farmers access to financial services and determinants of formal lenders credit rationing behaviour. Furthermore, it analyse the effect of formal credit on expenditure on farm inputs and farm size as well as farm productivity. Analytical framework presented in this book include: logit, multinomial logit, Heckman two stage model, Propensity Score Matching (PSM) and switching regression model.
