The female participation in work force bears immense significance in determining the demographic and socioeconomic character of population of any area. This research work provides a detailed picture of present scenario of female work participation and its demographic and social implications in varying social and spatial contexts in the city of Guwahati, which is known as the gateway to entire northeastern region of India and expected to help understand the prevailing economic and demographic status of women and their interrelationship among different population groups in the city. The results and database of this work shall provide necessary input for future study.
