Having reached 201 mph around Florano, Forrad's test track, tho F40 will be remembered as the fastest production car of the 1980s. Unveiled in 1987 to compete against the 959, the F40 has become the benchmark and target for other manufacturers, most recently Jaguar and the XJ220. The original price tag of around L160.000 reflected the Formula 1 and endurance racing technology which had produced the 3litre, biturbocharged, 472bhp engine. This is the dream machine!
