Ordered this treatise thinking it would have more contemporary insights, but it's hard to get past the old-fashioned style. Plus, it arrived with a bent cover, which was frustrating. I hope the info will help, but the delivery really put a damper on my excitement.

A Must-Read for Dog Lovers!
I recently picked up 'A Treatise on Retrieving' for my husband, who's been training our retriever for years. The insights from 1895 are surprisingly relevant and offer a great historical perspective on training. Our dog seems to respond even better after implementing some of the techniques! Highly recommend for anyone serious about their retrieving game.

Interesting but some outdated methods
I found the book quite intriguing as a longtime retriever owner. However, a few techniques feel really dated and not applicable to modern training. It’s a good read for the history, but I think I’ll stick to my current training methods for now. Still, it was worth my time!
