Departing from the approach of its Film Noir Reader predecessors, this third volume in the series assembles a collection of interviews with film noir directors and a cinematographer, few of whom are alive today. Interviewees include Billy Wilder (Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard), Otto Preminger (Laura), Joseph Lewis (Gun Crazy and The Big Combo), Curtis Bernhardt (Possessed and A Stolen Life), Edward Dmytryk (Murder, My Sweet and Crossfire), and Fritz Lang (Scarlet Street and The Woman in the Window).

I was really excited to read this book, but I was let down by the quality of the print. Some pages were smudged and hard to read. The interviews themselves are interesting, but the physical book fell short for me. Very disappointed overall.

Interesting but Lacked Depth
I enjoyed the insights in 'Film Noir Reader', but I wish the interviews had gone deeper into the creative process. They’re good for a casual read, but as a serious film buff, I wanted more specifics about the filmmakers’ approaches. Still worth a look, though!

Perfect for Film Lovers!
This is such a cool collection of interviews! I bought it for my dad who's a huge noir fan, and he couldn’t put it down. The way it explores the classic noir period with personal stories is just brilliant. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves old films.
