This innovative shapes book features 12 structures from around the world. Each doublepage spread is devoted to one shape, and both two and threedimensional shapes (e.g. circle, square, rectangle, cube, pyramid, and cylinder), are included. Each shape is illustrated in its simple geometric form on one side of the spread, while opposite is a fullcolor photograph of a structure that incorporates that shape. Simple text on each spread explains an aspect of the structure and invites children to imagine what it might be like to be in it or what the people who built it felt about it. This inventive and intriguing approach not only reinforces the learning of everyday shapes it also inspires children to appreciate some of the world's great structures and the everyday environment around them.
