La prsente recherche sappuie sur les rsultats de la caractrisation environnementale des sdiments provenant de travaux de dragage dentretien de la rivire Richelieu, la hauteur du port industriel de SorelTracy. Les instances gouvernementales qubcoises se positionnent sur la mise en dpt dfinitif de 52 000 mtres cubes de sdiments contamins en Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni et Zn. Dans la rglementation en vigueur, le niveau de contamination est valu en considrant que les mtaux sont uniquement adsorbs la surface des particules et par consquent, mobilisables. Le principe de prcaution prconise des modes de gestion qui pourraient tendre diminuer le potentiel de valorisation. La prsente dmarche de recherche vise dmontrer la soutenabilit environnementale dun mode scuris de gestion intgre des sdiments par une approche minralogique complmentaire et spcifique.
