From the geographical point of view, the Inferior Basin of the Motru River lies in the western part of the Getic Piedmont, Oltenia Region, Romania. Being situated in the southwestern part of the country and of the Getic Piedmont, the studied area has a CentralEuropean climate with subMediterranean influences. The systematic conspectus contains 1289 taxa (1114 species, 84 subspecies, 72 varieties, 19 forms, 11 hybrids and 24 cultivated species). The floristic contributions consist in: new variety for the science; new taxa for Romania; taxon update in Romania after 134 years; news for Oltenia region; taxonomic considerations on the status and nomenclatural taxa; completions in diagnostic taxa. Were identified and described about 76 taxa included in the national red lists. According to the program Identification of Important Areas for Plants in Europe IPA in Romania, coordinated by Prof. dr. Anca SRBU, on the grounds of the research made in the field (between 1997 and 2004), four areas were included in the National Network of IPAs. The material is primarily addressed to specialists in botany, but also those interested in flora.
