Se presenta un estudio de caso conformado por 3 etapas, que investiga cmo se aborda la formacin tico profesional en las reas de Ciencias Naturales e Ingeniera y Tecnologa de una de las Universidades Pblicas ms importantes de Mxico. En la primera etapa, se analizan los planteamientos de los documentos rectores de la Secretara de Educacin Pblica sobre la formacin tica, se contrastan dichos planteamientos con el Plan de Desarrollo Institucional de la UABC y los planes de estudio de las reas de conocimiento mencionadas, a fin de identificar la correspondencia discursiva sobre la formacin tico profesional. Se encuentran discrepancias. En la segunda etapa, se recaba la opinin de docentes de las reas de conocimiento mencionadas, a quienes se les pregunta su opinin sobre los valores ticos que se deben promover en la enseanza de la disciplina correspondiente. Se encuentran semejanzas y discrepancias entre la opinin docente y los planteamientos analizados en la etapa primera. En la tercera etapa, se toma en cuenta la opinin de estudiantes de las reas de conocimiento objeto de estudio y se encuentra que su opinin difiere de la de sus docentes.
