Francis Bacons New Organon, published in 1620, was revolutionary in its attempt to give formal philosophical shape to a new and rapidly emerging experimental science. It challenged the entire edifice of the philosophy and learning of Bacons time, and left its mark on all subsequent discussions of scientific method. This volume presents a new translation of the text into modern English by Michael Silverthorne, together with an introduction by Lisa Jardine that sets the work in the context of Bacons scientific and philosophical activities.

Francis Bacon's 'The New Organon' is an incredible piece that dives deep into scientific methodology. This Cambridge text is well-edited, making it easy to digest for both newcomers and seasoned philosophers. I bought it for my college course, and it's definitely been a helpful reference!

Good Content, But Dated Language
I appreciate the insights in Bacon's work, but the language can be a bit tough to get through at times. The Cambridge edition does have helpful notes, but I expected a more contemporary translation. Still, it's a solid read if you're into the history of philosophy.

Disappointing Physical Condition
I was excited to receive this text, but when it arrived, the binding was already coming apart. The content seems great, but I’m frustrated that I’ll have to get it replaced. Packaging was also pretty flimsy for a book of this importance.
