Product Description The object of this work is to give readers the tools to gain a better understandingof the man from Assisi. It contains a reprint of a biographical sketch preparedfor the Dizionario biografico degli Italiani,in which the story of Francis s life was presented as succinctly as possible. Following this is a collection of texts whose purpose is to lead the reader back to the sources that serve as a basis for a historical reconstruction. About the Author Prof. Roberto Rusconi studied Political Sciences at the Catholic University of Milan. He was professor of Medieval History at the University of Trieste, of Franciscan Studies at the University of Perugia, of Church History at the Universities of Salerno and L Aquila. At the Universit Roma Tre he is professor for the History of Christianity and supervisor of the BA in Religious Studies. He is a member of the faculty in the doctoral program in History of Christianity at the Universit Roma Tor Vergata. Prof. Rusconi is a specialist in the Italian religious history from the end of the middle ages to the beginning of the modern times. He published mostly on the regular orders and their pastoral activities: the preaching in the vernacular and the hearing of confessions. Many of his books and articles concern also apocalypticism, eschatology and prophecy. He is interested in the study of religious iconography.
