Cette correspondance traite notamment des tableaux de Picabia dits 'transparences' et amorce la monte en force de l'art abstrait. Rosenberg tire, d'ailleurs, progressivement la relecture des oeuvres de Picabia, peintes entre 1913 et 1917, vers l'art abstrait, le nonobjectif. Les pices produites proviennent de la reconstitution des Archives de la galerie de l'Effort Moderne ouverte en 1918 et ferme en 1941.
