About the Author Eamon Maher is Director of the National Centre for FrancoIrish Studies at the Institute of Technology, Tallaght (Dublin), where he also lectures in Humanities. His most recent monograph is The Church and its Spire: John McGahern and the Catholic Question (2011) and he is currently coediting (with Eugene OBrien) a book of essays entitled From Prosperity to Austerity: A SocioCultural Critique of the Celtic Tiger and its Aftermath. Catherine Maignant is Professor of Irish Studies and director of CECILLE, the Centre for the Study of Foreign Cultures at the University of Lille 3 (France). She is currently editing La France et lIrlande : destins croiss (16e21e sicles).
