Solche Handlungsalternativen werden besonders hufig in Diskussionen zur richtigen Erziehung von Kindern und Jugendlichen gefordert leider aber zu selten gefrdert. Der Anspruch an unser Bildungswesen nimmt stetig zu, bedingt durch die hohen Anforderungen an Leistungs und Bildungsstandards. So wchst auch der Druck auf die Schler, die die Inhalte der Lehrplne aufnehmen sollen und oft genau mit den einhergehenden Problemen konfrontiert sind. Im Laufe der Geschichte entwickelten sich aus verschiedenen Blickrichtungen Anstze zur Kompensation oder vielmehr zur Verbesserung des Bildungswesens. Einen dieser Anstze findet man in der Reformpdagogik. Den Beginn dieser neuen Sichtweise auf die Erziehung und Bildung von Jugendlichen zeichnet sich zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts ab. Neben Selbststndigkeit, Erlebnispdagogik und Lernen durch Handeln ist dieser Ansatz durch das freie Lernen gekennzeichnet. Maria Montessori rckte dabei insbesondere das Kind in den Fokus weiterer Ideen das Kind als Baumeister seiner selbst'.(2) Durch freies Arbeiten lernt das Kind seine Umwelt wahrzunehmen und mit dieser umzugehen, Teil der Welt zu werden und problemorientiert Aufgaben zu lsen.
