Es geht also um die zentrale Fragestellung, welche Beziehung die Bewohner zu den sie umgebenden Freirumen besitzen und warum bestimmte Wohngebiete deshalb weniger und andere mehr bevorzugt werden. Am Ende dieser Arbeit soll aufgezeigt werden, wie Stadt und Wohnraumplanung in Deutschland auf die entsprechenden Herausforderungen reagieren kann. Die Vielfalt an Definitionen fr Freirume' ist dabei mindestens genauso gro, wie die Zahl der Fachgebiete, in denen von Freirumen gesprochen wird. Eine allgemeingltige Definition lsst sich also nur schwer konstruieren. Da die Fragestellungen insbesondere anhand Dresdner Wohngebiete erlutert werden soll, wird zunchst der historische Hintergrund zur Entstehung der Wohnviertel erlutert, bevor spter im Detail auf die verschiedenen Quartiere eingegangen wird.
