So sind touristische Leistungen immaterielle, abstrakte Leistungen, welche nicht lager oder transportfhig sind und deren Konsum mit der Leistungserstellung zeitlich zusammenfllt. Nicht abgesetzte Leistungen verfallen demnach. Das touristische Produkt ist von traditionellen Sachgtern abzugrenzen, da hierbei der Dienstleistungscharakter im Vordergrund steht, welcher besondere Ansprche an seine Vermarktung stellt. Da das touristische Angebot eine Gesamtleistung aus mehreren Teilleistungen verschiedener Leistungstrger wie Gastronomie, Beherbergung, ffentliche und private Tourismustrger darstellt, ist ein aufeinander abgestimmtes Makromarketing fr dieses Gesamtprodukt wichtig. Fallen einzelne Elemente der erstellten Leistung schlecht aus, so wird automatisch die Qualitt des gesamten Produktes vom Kunden in Frage gestellt. Auf Grund der Querschnittsfunktion des Tourismus, der in sich verschiedene wissenschaftliche Bereiche wie zum Beispiel konomie, Politik, Soziologie, Geografie und kologie vereint, wird ein ganzheitliches Marketing notwendig, welches die relevanten Einflsse all dieser Bereiche und Umwelten in seine Analysen, Strategien und Planungen mit einbezieht.
