Annette Simon und Jan Faktor sie ostdeutsche Psychoanalytikerin, er in Ostdeutschland lebender tschechischer Schriftsteller , befinden sich nicht nur seit ihrer Jugend in stndigem geistigen Austausch und sind nicht nur seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren verheiratet: sie schreiben auch beide. In ihren in diesem Band vereinten Vortrgen und Essays reflektieren sie von verschiedenen Seiten die politischen und gesellschaftlichen Konflikte ihrer unmittelbaren Vergangenheit. Viele dieser emotional stark besetzten Erlebnisse bedeuteten auch Brche in ihren vertrauten Wirkungskreisen und brachten immer wieder die Beschftigung mit dem "Fremdsein" in ihr Leben. Jan Faktor zog 1978 in die DDR in ein fremdes Land, dessen Untergrundkultur ihm dann pltzlich nicht geahnte, aber auch fragwrdige Freirume bot. Er wurde mit der anderen Kultur und als Schriftsteller mit der deutschen Sprache konfrontiert. Nach der deutschen Vereinigung mute er sich mit der StasiVergangenheit einiger seiner Mitstreiter auseinandersetzen und auch mit dem westdeutschen Kulturbetrieb. Annette Simon erlebte mit der Okkupation der CSSR eine politische Entfremdung von ihren frheren sozialistischen Idealen und von ihrem vermeintlichen Aufgehobensein innerhalb der DDR. Kritisch analysiert sie in ihren Texten das Weiterbestehen solcher Entfremdungsgefhle sowohl bei ehemaligen Oppositionellen, als auch bei ehemaligen Befrwortern der DDR im deutschen Vereinigungsproze. Vor allem aber reflektiert sie ihren beruflichen Werdegang als Psychotherapeutin und erhellt dabei die Hintergrnde des Psychotherapiealltags in der DDR.
