Hierin entwirft dieser eine Tragdientheorie der griechischen Dramenkunst und entwickelt darber hinaus Begrifflichkeiten, welche sich noch auf die sthetik der Moderne wie auch auf das gesamte 20. und 21. Jahrhundert entscheidend auswirkten. In jenem Frhwerk geht Friedrich Nietzsche von den Bildern zweier Gtter aus. Zum einen von Apollon, dem reinen, heiligen, aus Delphi Kommenden und zum anderen von Dionysos, dem rauschhaften, gestaltenreichen, Fremden aus Thrakien. ber die an diese Gttergestalten gebundenen Begriffsbildungen des 'Apollinischen' und des 'Dionysischen' entwirft er seine Lehre vom Aufstieg und Verfall der griechischen Tragdie auf dem Hintergrund einer Gesamtdeutung des Griechentums. Diese von ihm entworfene gegenstzliche Bezogenheit und notwendige Wechselseitigkeit der beiden gttlichen Sphren wird nun im Folgenden einer genaueren Analyse unterzogen werden, wobei der Frage nachgegangen werden soll, wie sich die apollinischdionysische Doppelstruktur als Ursprung der griechischen Tragdie offenbart.
