They find the perfect warm and damp spot, the local laundromat, and work a deal with Mrs. Crumple, the owner, to give her a holiday at their pond in exchange for a day babysitting in the shop. Gordon's watercolor and ink drawings are comic and colorful with expressive frogs and many details for children to discover. She uses an effective technique for emphasizing the main characters: the frogs, Mrs. Crumple, and her baby are all painted in vibrant colors, while extraneous characters fade away in a sepia background.
