For example, the camera has captured chicks emerging from their eggs; subsequent pictures show them with fluffy down, and then with their first real wing feathers. Several photos show the interaction of farmers and vets with the animals. Both freerange and confined animals are represented. The books give readers a wellrounded view of each species. Glossary definitions are uncomplicated. For instance, 'breeding' is defined as 'male and female produce young.'
