Review >From The Ashes is set in Ohio in 1794, the time of the Battle of Fallen Timbers between U. S. troops led by General Anthony Wayne, and the Shawnee, led by Chief Blue Jacket. Davey Joyce lives in Ohio near the Tiffin River, with his parents and little brother, Michael. One day, renegade Shawnee burn the family cabin both parents die in the fire, and Michael is kidnapped by the Shawnee. Because he had not been able to warn his family of the Shawnee approach, Davey blames himself for the deaths and his brothers disappearance, and considers himself a coward. While searching for his brother, Davey is abducted by two Shawnee halfbrothers. He is eventually adopted by the tribe, and becomes a Shawnee. He discovers his own courage while attempting to forge peace between the Shawnee and General Wayne.
