Fr die Theater, Film und Fersehwissenschaft ist entscheidend, da ein scheinbar randstndiges Thema das einzige aus der YiDynastie schriftlich berlieferte Puppenspiel durch seine erschpfende Analyse zu einem Modellfall aufsteigt, der nicht nur im theatergeschichtlichen Vergleich neue Einsichten erbringt, sondern als Rekonstruktion eines ganzen Mediensystems (von der Mndlichkeit ber Schrift und Druck bis hin zu technischen Medien) auch fr die allgemeine Medienwissenschaft beispielhafte Bedeutung erlangt. Methodische Basis dieses Erfolgs ist vor allem die Anknpfung an Foucaults Diskursanalyse und verwandte Verfahren, die zwar in der Literaturtheorie eine bekannt groe Beachtung erfahren haben, ganz selten aber bislang auf auereuropische Kulturen oder gar Volksberlieferungen angewandt worden sind. Und doch erweist sich die Originalitt vorliegender Arbeit gerade daran, da das von ihr erschlossene Neuland zwanglos in Begriffen der Foucaultschen Machttheorie beschreibbar wird.
