An enormous encyclopedia of tropical gardening that will be of interest not only to gardeners in tropical and subtropical areas but also to greenhouse enthusiasts everywhere. Included are detailed, illustrated listings of herbaceous plants, shrubs and climbers, trees and palms, foliage plants, and orchids. Although written specifically for the tropical climate of Malaysia, the book is also useful for the less steamy conditions of Hawaii, south Florida, and southern California.

I was really looking forward to this book, but it didn’t meet my expectations. Some of the info was repeated from other gardening books I own. I guess it’s good for absolute beginners, but I wanted more specifics for tropical climates.

Some Missing Details
While I appreciate the overall content, I found some sections skimpy on details. For example, the pest management chapter could use more comprehensive solutions. It’s a decent starting point, just wish it went deeper.

Informative and Inspiring!
I absolutely love 'Gardening in the Tropics'! It has inspired me to try new plants I never thought would thrive here. The tips on humidity and sunlight are especially useful. Can’t wait to implement some of these ideas in my garden.
