Formulation of Gastroretentive Floating Tablets, sustained release tablets is the area of research from long time. Most of the time material used for formulation is either synthetic or semisynthetic polymers. The preparation and cost of these polymers have always been problem for the formulators. Thus, more emphasis was given on the use of natural materials or combination of their with synthetic or semisynthetic for sustaining the release. The easy availability and low cost are the main advantages of these natural polymers. Also, the biodegradability of natural polymers gives an extra advantage over synthetic polymers. This study laid emphasis on use of different types of natural materials as the good gastroretentive, sustained release polymers in combination. Hence, various other kinds of material can be utilized to formulate the Floating systems and release retarding systems which can floated upto maximum required time and release the drug in specific time period. Moreover such blends can be used to release the drug in specific pattern by suppressing the snags of either one or both the materials.
