Sie behandelt die vor und fruhgeschichtliche Entstehung des Stadtewesens in der Cukurova, die Blute der kilikischen Stadte in hellenistischromischer Zeit, den Bedeutungswandel der Stadte wahrend der Vorstosse des militanten Islams im 8. bis 10. Jahrhundert und die Grundzuge der Stadtentwicklung unter armenischer Herrschaft im 12. bis 14. Jahrhundert.Im Vordergrund steht die Frage nach den geographischen, historischen und politischen Entwicklungsbedingungen und Wirkkraften, die fur den standigen Wechsel von Zeiten der Blute, der Stagnation, des Niedergangs und des Verfalls und fur die Sonderstellung der CukurovaStadte innerhalb der Turkei verantwortlich waren.
