Inwiefern der Begriff der Erfahrung als ein Kernstck von Benjamins Philosophie und insbesondere seiner sthetik verstanden werden kann, soll im Laufe der Untersuchung aufgezeigt werden. Das allerdings die Art der Erfahrung die Kunst in ihrer Substanz zu treffen vermag, dafr soll eine Andeutung Heideggers aus dem Nachwort zum "Ursprung des Kunstwerkes" stehen: "Alles ist Erlebnis. Doch vielleicht ist das Erlebnis das Element, in dem die Kunst stirbt. Das Sterben geht so langsam vor sich, da es einige Jahrhunderte braucht.".1 Obwohl Benjamin zeitlebens gegen Heidegger polemisiert hat, knnten doch diese Stze geradezu als progammatisch fr Benjamins eigenen Ansatz aufgefasst werden.2 Aber lange bevor Heidegger diese Vermutung im "Ursprung des Kunstwerks" ausspricht, hat Benjamin bereits im "Ursprung des deutschen Trauerspiels" eine kritische Alternative zu jedweder Erlebnissthetik entworfen.3 In dessen "Erkenntniskritischer Vorrede" bndelt er noch einmal die Erkenntnisse, welche er unter anderem auch aus der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Erfahrungsbegriff der Aufklrung und der Romantik gewonnen hat. Sein eigener Erfahrungsbegriff ist bereits von Anfang an als Gegenbegriff zum lebensphilosophischen Einfhlungserlebnis gesetzt. Frhestes Zeugnis fr die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Problem der Erfahrung ist ein Artikel von Benjamin in der "Zeitschrift fr die Jugend" vom Oktober 1913.
