Zugleich ist 'My Place' auch das bislang auflagenstrkste Buch, das je von einer australischen Ureinwohnerin geschrieben wurde einer Frau, die erst nach und nach herausfindet, dass sie und ihre Vorfahren Aboriginals sind. Die vorliegende Studie analysiert die Herstellung indigener Gemeinschaft in 'My Place': Wie werden Aboriginals beschrieben? Welche Rolle spielt Geschlecht? Welche Bedeutung kommt der Familie zu? Zustzlich zu diesen Fragen wird eine Bibliographie der australischen Sekundrliteratur zu 'My Place' prsentiert.
