Seit das Werk von K. Lhner und K. Mller, "Gemischbildung und Verbrennung im Ottomotor" 1967 erschienen ist, sind 23 Jahre vergangen. Verstndlicherweise haben sich in dieser Zeit viele neue Erkenntnisse ergeben, so da es dringend an der Zeit erschien, diesen neuen Wissensstand nunmehr zusammengefat vorzulegen. Den Schwerpunkt des Bandes stellt die Gemischbildung fr Ottomotoren dar, sowohl bezglich der Grundlagen als auch hinsichtlich der Ausfhrung der Gemischbildner, d.h. der Einspritzsysteme und der Vergaser sowie der zugehrigen Saugrohre. Ebenso wird auf die dazugehrige Metechnik eingegangen. Die Grundlagen der Verbrennung werden in dem Umfang erlutert, als sie zum Verstndnis der Auswirkung der Gemischbildung erforderlich sind. Das Buch soll sowohl dem in Forschung und Praxis ttigen Ingenieur als auch Studierenden und sonstigen Fachleuten, die sich auf diesem Gebiet vertiefen wollen, einen berblick ber den Stand des Wissens und der Technik geben. Auch nach mehr als 100jhriger Entwicklung im Motorenbau wird gerade auf diesem Gebiet heute weltweit intensive Forschung betrieben; groe Fortschritte sind zu verzeichnen. 400 Literaturquellen aus aller Welt wurden bercksichtigt.
