La regin insular de Venezuela y especficamente el archipilago Los Testigos estuvieron influenciados por procesos geomorfolgicos sedimentarios de carcter erosivo y acumulativo que durante el Pleistoceno se combinaron con las fluctuaciones marinas, producto de los cambios climticos sucedidos a escala planetaria. Especficamente en el ltimo Mximo Glacial los niveles se hallaban de 120 a 100 metros por debajo del nivel actual, hecho que aunado a las caractersticas de la morfologa submarina; en la cual el archipilago est emplazado sobre una amplia plataforma submarina a escasos metros de profundidad, sugieren que en este episodio glaciar la plataforma estaba emergida conformando as, una extensa llanura que una las diferentes islas del archipilago y la isla de Margarita; donde actuaron los procesos morfolgicos erosivos y deposicionales. Con el final del ltimo Mximo Glacial, se elevaron los niveles marinos y la plataforma quedo sumergida. En la actualidad la accin de los procesos geomorfolgicos depositarios y erosivos de origen marino y elico, se han visto reflejados en algunas geoformas recientes, tales como: acantilados, playas, dunas costeras, tmbolos y otros
