La dinmica geomorfolgica litoral de una regin depende de los elementos que interactan en dicha zona. El modelado costero est determinado por los agentes y caractersticas fsicas que actan en ella, entre los cuales se encuentran, la litologa, estructuras geolgicas, la energa y direccin del oleaje, las corrientes marinas, y el comportamiento de las mismas. La hipotesis propuesta en este trabajo refiere estudiar las caractersticas geomorfolgicas y sedimentolgicas de los ambientes depositacionales presentes en la salina de San Pedro de Coche, isla de Coche, estado Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. Los objetivos que se intentan cumplir con la presente investigacin son los siguientes: identificar los agentes y procesos geomorfolgicos que operan en el rea de estudio, y que influyen en el origen, transporte y depositacin de sedimentos, por otro lado, caracterizar sedimentolgicamente los ambientes y sub ambientes depositacionales que coexisten en la salina y finalmente elaborar mapas geomorfolgicos y de facies sedimentarias que permitan explicar la evolucin geomorfolgica y sedimentolgica del rea de estudio.
