En esta obra se aplic el Mtodo Net Ready de Hartman, A. y Sifonis, J. (2000) a los hoteles 5 y 4 estrellas de la Isla de Margarita y se realiza un anlisis comparativo entre ellos. Tambin se determina la brecha (en los pilares para la economa digital) entre los sectores hoteleros estudiados y lo mejor a nivel mundial en este ramo. El estudio se hizo solo a los hoteles 5 y 4 estrellas debido a los resultados obtenidos por Castro, A. y Zavarce, C. (2009). Los resultados muestran que, los datos obtenidos en la aplicacin del Mtodo a los hoteles 5 y 4 estrellas de la isla de Margarita con Registro Turstico Nacional (RTN), no muestran diferencias significativas debido a que ambos sectores resultaron encontrarse en el nivel de Experto de la Red, al igual que su promedio, por lo tanto cualquier accin gerencial para mejorar las condiciones de algunos de los cuatro pilares para la economa digital (Liderazgo, Modelo Empresarial, Capacidades Organizacionales y Tecnologa) se puede aplicar a ambos sectores. Finalmente se hizo una propuesta, de tipo gerencial, que incluye lineamientos, estrategias y acciones que permitiran una exitosa participacin en la economa digital
