Sie vermitteln lebhaft ihren Einstieg in diesen Sport in den spten 1940er und frhen 1950er Jahren und geben aus dieser Zeit so manche Anekdote zum Besten. In EssenSteele wurde zu der Zeit noch in der Ruhr gespielt, abgetrennt durch Baumstmme, einmal mit und einmal gegen die Strmung. In Wuppertal existierten Bder mit Bachdurchlauf, deren Temperatur nur unwesentlich ber den damals zum Spiel erforderlichen 16 Grad lag.
