"Zwischen skeptischer Hoffnungslosigkeit und dogmatischem Trotz" dieses Diktum Kants gibt gleichermaen die kritischen Intentionen der kantischen Geschichtsphilosophie wie auch seiner Religionsphilosophie in uerster Krze und dennoch prgnant wieder. Demgem verfolgt der erste Teil des Buches Kants Begrndung eines "geschichtlichen Hoffnungsbegriffs" und die darin leitenden Ideen des Rechtsfortschritts und des "ewigen Friedens" (als das "hchste politische Gut"). Wenngleich diese magebenden Perspektiven in Kants geschichtsphilosophischen Schriften zweifellos im Vordergrund stehen, so sollen demgegenber jedoch vor allem jene latent vorhandenen Anknpfungspunkte und Anstze zu einem kritischen Geschichtsdenken bei Kant und das darin leitende "gegenlufige" Vernunftinteresse freigelegt werden. Dabei werden in Kants Denken Bezge erkennbar, die solche verborgenen geschichtsphilosophischen Aspekte in bemerkenswerter Nhe zu Walter Benjamins berhmtem geschichtsphilosophischen Motiv, "die Geschichte gegen den Strich zu brsten", erscheinen lassen. Eine andere Akzentuierung gewinnt jenes Diktum Kants freilich im Kontext seiner kritischen Religionsphilosophie. Die Begrndung eines ber das Anspruchsniveau der Tugendpflichten erweiterten "Standpunktes der Freiheit" (der Idee des "bersinnlichen in uns") modifiziert zugleich den von Kant beabsichtigten Nachweis, "dass Moral unumgnglich zur Religion fhrt", und erlaubt so eine religionsphilosophische Erweiterung und Differenzierung des Hoffnungshorizontes. Dergestalt gewinnt nicht nur Kants "Weltbegriff der Philosophie" neue Konturen auch auf Kants Idee einer "authentischen Theodizee" fllt damit noch einmal ein neues Licht "zwischen skeptischer Hoffnungslosigkeit und dogmatischem Trotz".
