Die Interpretation der IsabellaNovelle wird dabei den breitesten Raum einnehmen, weil ihr nicht nur rezeptionsgeschichtlich, sondern auch schon auf Grund ihrer Positionierung und Lnge eine Sonderstellung innerhalb des Zyklus zukommt. Da sie als eine Art ProgrammNovelle"13 gesehen werden kann, an der Arnim seine umstrittenen poetologischen Konzepte exemplifiziert, sollen an ihr zustzlich zur Analyse der Figur der Isabella die wichtigsten Punkte von Arnims Poetologie erlutert werden. Whrend diese Aspekte bei den anderen Novellen nur noch einmal aufgegriffen, bzw. entsprechend ergnzt werden, wird die Frage nach der Funktion und Stellung der Frauenfiguren in den Einzelinterpretation im Mittelpunkt stehen. Im Schlusskapitel wird dann noch einmal in Form eines Resmees ber Stellung, Funktion und Verbindung der Frauenfiguren auf die Ursprungsfrage zurckgekommen werden. In die Antwort mit einflieen soll dabei auch eine mgliche Verbindung zwischen der Hochschtzung der Frauen durch den Erzhler und Arnims glcklichem Privatleben zu dieser Zeit: Das erste Ehejahr mit seiner Frau Bettine, der Schwester seines besten Freundes Clemens Brentano, wird kurz nach der Verffentlichung des Novellenzyklus von der Geburt des ersten Kindes gekrnt und legt so eine positive Einstellung Arnims gegenber den Frauen nahe.
