Dieses zwischen Romantik und Realismus erzhlte Kunstmrchen beschftigt sich mit der Gesellschaft und ihren Disparitten, die aufgrund von Macht und Reichtum entstehen. Peter Munk, der Protagonist der Geschichte, wird dabei Armut sowie groen Reichtum erleben mitsamt den Folgen fr Familie und Gesellschaft. Die politische Situation in jener Zeit soll dabei nher beleuchtet werden und die Frage geklrt werden, inwieweit Reichtum dem Menschen schadet bzw. ihn weiterbringt. Um das Mrchen auf seine Thermenstellung hin besser zu verstehen, soll anfangs die politische Situation aufgezeigt und diese anschlieend auf die Geschichte bertragen werden. Auch Das kalte Herz" beinhaltet eine zentrale Aussage, sozusagen die Moral der Geschichte, die in Punkt 3.0 erlutert werden soll. Es schliet sich eine Kritik an der eben angesprochenen Aussage an und letztendlich folgt eine kurze Zusammenfassung und Wertung im Schluss.
