Zunchst wird Zielsetzung und Inhalt des Tarifvertrages dargestellt. Anschlieend wird erlutert, warum der Tarifvertrag aufgrund seines qualitativen und prozessualen Charakters eine enge Zusammenarbeit der Betriebsparteien zur individuellen Umsetzung auf betrieblicher Ebene frdert und fordert. Die Notwendigkeit eines raschen Handelns der Betriebsparteien wird anhand einer Darstellung der demographischen Herausforderungen der Eisen und Stahlindustrie aufgezeigt. Es wird festgestellt, dass sowohl Arbeitgeber als auch Arbeitnehmerseite diese Herausforderungen lange ignorierten. Erst Vernderungen der politischen Rahmenbedingungen sowie wirtschaftlich gnstige Voraussetzungen fhrten 2006 zum Abschluss des Tarifvertrages. Anschlieend wird dargestellt, wie die Inhalte des Tarifvertrages in den Betrieben umgesetzt worden sind. Hierzu wird zunchst ein berblick ber die branchenweite Umsetzung gegeben und anschlieend die Umsetzung anhand der DemographieProjekte zweier Grounternehmen der Branche genauer untersucht. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Unternehmen die Inhalte des Tarifvertrages hchst unterschiedlich umsetzen, der Tarifvertrag jedoch keinesfalls ignoriert wird. Im Anschluss wird dargestellt, dass die aktuelle Wirtschaftskrise auf die Anstrengungen der Betriebe im Demographiebereich eine hchstens mittelfristige Hemmwirkung entfaltet.
