1m Rahmen des Nationalen Forschungsprogramms "Wirt schaftlichkeit und Wirksamkeit im schweizerischen Gesund heitswesen" erhielt ich die Gelegenheit, an einem Teilprojekt mitzuarbeiten, in dem auslandische Erfahrungen mit Ausga benkontrollen im Gesundheitswesen fur die schweizerische Diskussion ausgewertet worden sind. Der vorliegende Be richt ist dabei aus der fur die Bundesrepublik Deutschland angestellten Einzelstudie hervorgegangen. Diese Arbeit wendet sich zunachst einmal an all jene, die sich fur die aktuelle Reformdiskussion im schweizerischen Gesundheitswesen interessieren. Die Gesundheitspolitik der Bundesrepublik gewinnt fUr die Schweiz deshalb eine beson dere Bedeutung, weil sowohl die sozialen und wirtschaftli chen Verhiiltnisse als auch die Systeme der Gesundheitsver sorgung in beiden Landern ahnlich und somit gut miteinan der vergleichbar sind. Eine weitgehende Ubereinstimmung besteht schliel3lich auch in bezug auf die bereits ergriffenen oder noch zur Diskussion stehenden Ma13nahmen zur Ko stenkontrolle. Der weitaus gro13te Teil der Arbeit richtet sich aber auch an Leser au13erhalb der Schweiz, die sich uber das System der Gesundheitsversorgung und die damit zusammen hangende Politik in der Bundesrepublik informieren moch ten.
