Review I sent my courtesy copy to my district...I am really excited about this book. Sandra Fehr, West Perry School District, PAOne of the best education texts I have ever read certainly the best in the field of special education. John C. Fagan, Superintendent, Oak Park School District #97, IL Product Description A complete guide to understanding the needs of children with disabilities...the complex legal relationship between federal and state governments...the contributions being made by legislation, regulations, and court decisions...and the ultimate responsibilities of parents and teachers to make appropriate education a reality for all children with disabilities. Part One gives you an outstanding overview of the issues and laws. In Part Two you get an update on Section 504 and see what it does and does not do. Part Three shows what you need to know about the major issues that have arisen under IDEA. Endorsed by CASE, the Council of Administrators of Special Education. About the Author Dixie Snow Huefner is a Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Utah. She is one of the few professors of special education who is also an attorney, and her training and perspective gives her an unusual advantage in teaching and writing about special education law. She has and undergraduate degree in political science from Wellesley College, and graduate degrees in special education and law from the University of Utah. After receiving her law degree and being admitted to the Utah State Bar, she served a prestigious clerkship with the Honorable Stephen H. Anderson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, before joining the special education department as a fulltime faculty member. Her articles have appeared in leading education and law journals.
