Das Buch baut auf dem bekannten, aber seit langem vergriffenen Buch "GlasschmelzOfen" von R. Gunther auf, hebt sich in der Behandlung des Stoffes durch die Betonung der verfahrenstechnischen Oberlegungen aber deut lich davon abo Die starke Zunahme des Stoffes spiegelt auBerdem die erhebliche Erweiterung des Wissensstandes auf diesem Gebiet wieder. Das wiedergegebene Material stammt zum groBen Teil aus der Arbeit der Fachausschusse der Deutschen Glastechnischen Gesellschaft, Veroffentlichungen in den Glastechnischen Berichten und internem Material der Huttentechnischen Vereinigung der Glasindustrie. Daruber hinaus wurde die internationale Fachli teratur mit ausgewertet.
