Workers in that era responded by organizing massively and negotiating tenaciously, helped mightily by the Catholic socialaction movement. This group of priests and laypeople, blending strong spirituality and a passion for worker justice, helped multitudes of workers claim their rights and exercise their responsibilities. This telling story shows how the movement, working toward a path of authentic social justice, provided a third way between rampant capitalist individualism and Communist collectivism, allowing free enterprise to coexist with worker justice and social justice.
