Die christliche Religion ist nach ihm die Religion, die mit ihrem schwierigen und anspruchsvollen Charakter dem menschlichen Verstand gerade nicht leicht macht, indem sie gerade nicht denken lsst. Und dies nennt Kierkegaard Paradox, welchem nur glaubend entgegenzutreten ist. Gegenber dem durchaus objektiven Allgemeinheitscharakter vom spekulativen Denken Hegels hebt Kierkegaard von Anfang an die existentiale Subjektivitt hervor. So setzt er beim Sndenverstndnis einen sehr berraschenden Gedanken an. Die Snde ist auer betroffener Person von keinem Anderen zu verstehen, d.h., es kann unmglich einen Dritten beim eigenen Sndenverstndnis geben: Wie die Snde in die Welt gekommen ist, das versteht jeder Mensch einzig und allein durch sich selbst'. Noch brillanter ist sein Ansatz, dass der Einzelne eine Person, aber zugleich ein ganzes Menschengeschlecht bedeute. Er legt dadurch das erste Paar und dessen so genannten ersten Sndenfall einleuchtend aus und macht den dunklen Teil der traditionellen Erbsndenlehre in existentialler Ebene interessanter. Kierkegaard hatte dabei die psychologische Disziplin als Hilfsmittel verwendet. Aus seinem anthropologisvhen Menschenverstndnis her stellt er fest, dass die Menschen allein aus eigener Kraft berhaupt nichts vermgen. Die in seinen Schriften wichtige Begriffe wie Angst und Verzweiflung signalisieren solche Zustnde, wo die Menschen an das eigene Dunkel gefesselt weder rein noch raus knnen.
