Do you really know Granada? If you have been here and visited the Alhambra, maybe the Cathedral, and had some sangra, paella and tapas, the answer is no. Granada is an old city with a lot of history behind, most of it true. This makes it a bit more unknowable that other cities. Every corner, every neighborhood, every river and every street has evolved to something unique and different. And it is impossible to describe it all, but this book, which is the result of the urban walks of the author during the more than thirty years he has been living there, is a first attempt to talk about the parts and features the city that are usually ignored and forgotten by the usual, "Granada in one or two days", guides. Including those parts, events, people that are not part of History and have been traditionally forgotten by guides of the walking or the book kind. This notreallyaguide will attempt to cover graffiti in this city that is known worldwide for them; talk about the machines and things every geek wants to know, have a look at the university inside the monuments, the freemasons in Granada, the rests of the real estate bubble, the malls, where to watch the holy week outside the holy week, the people living here, the water, liquid or solid, what we do when a smallish earthquake hits the city, where to find street art (hint: everywhere) and all kind of things following the principle: if it is in your usual travel guide, it should not go into this book. Or not go in the same way. That is why Granada on is an invitation to wrap yourself in the city and discover your own routes, more than a box of squaredoff entertainment that just scratches the surface. And it is about art, but also about people. And a bit, about history. What to expectInstead of using the classical division by districts or historic periods, this book is rather a Borgesian nonexhaustive (but possibly exhausring) and nonexclusive list of chapters devoted to built things, the cycle of water, things people do like graffiti, comic conventions and eventually the university, which is all that and then some. When to buyWhen you have checked all the boxes of your Lonely Fodor's guide, are looking for a vibrand and lively place to start a new life, or have a weekend after the 5th convention you have spent in the city. Or any time you want.Fourth editionThis new edition includes a new chapter on the Holy Week, outside the Holy Week proper.
