La jeune fille tombe amoureuse de lui et refuse le parti qui lui tait destin, mais cet amour est impossible et elle choisit d'entrer au couvent dans l'le de Procida et ne survivra pas longtemps aprs le retour en France de l'lu de son coeur. Il est lu l'Acadmie franaise en 1829. Aprs une carrire diplomatique jusqu'en 1830, il devient dput en 1837 et est candidat la prsidence de la Rpublique en 1848. Il est mort Paris en 1869.
